    Anime MouseGuard fall 1152

that's burning wheel's duel of wits. luke crane took one of his gameplay pillars, simplified character creation and built a whole ruleset around this one conflict resolution. there's also torchbearer, using a refined system of the same rules; now in second edition. it's novel in its approach...

What are your favorite superhero RPGs?

i really like heroes, but it plays rather slow and is heavy on crunch. yes, it's modular and you can drop half of its systems without losing a lot. but why playing a ruleset when you homebrew it to something different? as an alternative there's fuzion. that's a fusion, hence the name, of...

Eternity Josh Sawyer reflects on his failures with Pillars of Eternity

cut the man some slack. he repeatedly said that he couldn't give the audience what they wanted, and that he's not really willing to helm the production of a potential sequel.

Why D&D 2e is the BEST edition ever.

you don't multiply the strength and weapon bonus damage, just the weapon's base damage. the correct example would be: 4.5x4+5=23 on average.

Why D&D 2e is the BEST edition ever.

yeah, i know. got me confused too. must be a mistake on their end, because 1-1 hit die clearly can't average out at 7hp. taking 1st edition as a reference the goblin's stat block notes 1-7hp, which is exactly 1-1 hd.

Why D&D 2e is the BEST edition ever.

5e goblin's 2d6 hit dice - that's 7hp on average. a long bow deals 4.5hp damage on average. 2e goblin's 1d8-1 hit die - that makes 3.5hp. damage of a long bow in 2e is dependent on the type of arrow used. a flight arrow deals 1d6 and a sheaf arrow 1d8 hp damage. there's higher probability of...

Incline OSR Games - Official thread

the s&w white box is basically plain od&d, only containing rules from the little brown books (the first three booklets). s&w core adds some rules from the supplements, like the thief class added with greyhawk. s&w complete adds all* the supplements into one complete book, hence the name -...

    Homebrew PnP Rpg system discussion

one needs context to give a good example - but if players ignore facts of the world they're playing in, like having a low str and trying to lift a boulder, then the dm has to get creative. let them roll, but let them know beforehand that the best their char is able to do in that situation is...

    One-shot set in Insulinde

pbta, fitd (forged in the dark), s&w white box, fate. narration centric games are easy to setup, extremly flexible and fast to play.

    Homebrew PnP Rpg system discussion

you just need to adapt the narration to the given situation the dice create. perhaps the rogue is somewhere else with his mind, or still injured and not concentrated while trying to fiddle with the complex lock. the barbarian is annoyed waiting, grabs the chest and smashes it right into the next...

Incline OSR Games - Official thread

there's oriental adventures (ad&d 1ed) and ruins&ronin / shinobi&samurai (s&w white box od&d hacks). not exactly becmi, but can be adapted with little effort.

Incline Knights of the Chalice 2 - Editor & Module Creation

the thing i miss in iceblink is a custom script language. version one of the engine got the inclusion of c# programming. while i get that this feature got removed due to security concerns, it's kind of restricting to only use precrafted scripts shipping with the toolset. no way to create custom...
