Banita: Mystary RPG from Poland ( Game news )
posted by Vault Dweller on Tue 25 May 2004, 17:08:19
More info on Banita - More info on Nawar

Banita is a new RPG that's being developed somewhere in Poland, the country previously known for The Witcher and Zywiec (thanks for the tip, Elwro). Hopefully, Banita means something extremely cool in Polish, and we're waiting for our resident linguists to convince us that it's not just a name of a Latina stripper.

Anyway, the good thing is that Banita takes place on a distant planet. The bad thing is the planet's development corresponds to early middle ages. Doh! The good thing is that there are rocket launchers! The bad thing is that there are spells. As Brian Fellows says: "That's CRAZY!"

The vision dissapeared. Now he found himself in a corridor. There was horrendously brightly here. The light was of bluish-green colour. An idea came to his mind that this was strange... It was obvious for him that the torches burn in yellow or red... However, his attention was drawn by enormous windmills turning under the vault of the corridor, not for all the money in the world could he associate in which purpose they are turning. The disturbing feeling appeared again... he became excited ... he knew that soon, he will get his own way...

The corridor dissapeared - instead of it there appeared a middle-sized room. He felt relief because it was not as bright as in the corridor. Instead of the bright light there were a lot of red-green flickering points. He noticed that he is following a few of them "...only one hand-movement, I hope there won't be many victims, for sure - less..." - again something came to his mind. His hand made its way towards the row of small square insets on a table top and started to push them. After a while, the tiresome feeling of anxiety had went away. He knew he kept to his resolution... Suddenly, the doors opened violently and frightfully blue and green light burst into the room...
OMG! He's found the Vault 13!

    Mythora Q&A at WithinGames ( Interview )
    posted by Saint_Proverbius on Wed 24 March 2004, 09:30:07
More info on Banita - More info on Nawar

There's an interview with Dominik Libek and Marcin Michel of Teleplan about Mythora, their CRPG with a mix of genres in one game. Here's a bit about that:

    (4) Coming to Mythora, your new role playing game, can you explain a little about the background and why you chose a setting on such a partly strange and on the other hand very familiar world? Can you also tell us about the different locations we will see in the game?

    Dominik Libek:
It must have certainly been mentioned already that the world in Mythora makes a smooth transit from the climate of fantasy to full s-f. It is a very innovative motive in cRPG games. Thus, locations in Mythora are much differentiated - in the part of the world subject to fantasy canon the player can visit many rural villages, towns and cities, caves and mines. In the s-f part the team will continue its journey through the scenery of futuristic bases and spaceships.

I hope it has Castle Greyskull in it.

    Thanks, mithrandir!

Mythora announced ( Game news )
posted by Ausir on Fri 19 December 2003, 17:08:53
More info on Banita - More info on Nawar

Nawar, a Polish game developer, has announced their new game - Mythora, a science-fiction/fantasy hybrid cRPG. Here's a bit on the story from the official website:

The main hero of the game, the lumberman from the introduction, comes from Earth. He came to this planet with the whole earth civilization when the Earth resources started to exhaust. The mankind was forced to leave the Earth and leave for another planet. But the people didn’t know that this planet was already inhabited. They started to build his own bases. At this time, the authorities decided that the life that exists on this planet must be destroyed to avoid terrible genetic anomalies that could happen in case of mixing of the species. The orders from the huge transport ships placed on the orbit were transferred to the people on the surface of the planet. But they were in friendly contact with the natives and refused to execute the orders. As a result of the intervention by the people on the planet, the transport ship couldn’t land properly and many of the devices and machines were destroyed. Many of the transport ships have landed on the fourth continent, two of them landed on the third. This stopped them and they didn’t killed the natives, but the saboteurs were caught, their memory was erased and send in EXILE among the natives of the planet, till the time when people will rearm and fulfill their plan of destruction. The hero during the game has some flashbacks of the lost memory (visions) which help him to understand more and more who he really is, from where he comes and what he has to do. The game ends in the moment when our hero, fully conscious of his origin, will destroy the plans of the people coming from Earth.

Unfortunately, while the game might turn out to be good, their English is pretty weak. Let's hope the game's translation is better than that...
