Rampant Games has posted a very revealing interview with Planewalker Games' Jason Compton:

The way I got into D&D was kind of funny. I guess it was around that same time, ’85 – ’86, I thought that I was interested in chess. The local public library had a chess club, and I went, and the young adult librarian ran the chess club. I wasn’t a terribly good chess player, and she must have seen that. She must have seen something else in me that suggested that I might be interested in roleplaying games, because she said, “Well, Jason, why don’t you come with me,”...
To protect our young readers we can't post what happened next openly.
